Mrs. Effie Mae Taylor Ashford, age 93, of Charlotte, NC died July 19, 2010 at

her residence.  Born July 28, 1916 in Denton NC she was the daughter of the late

Rev. Charles L. and Nancy Dick Taylor.  She was a graduate of Ellenboro High

School, worked at the Charlotte Observer, and later became a homemaker and mother of two sons. She was a loyal member of Thrift Baptist Church where she served in the baby nursery for 40 years.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend that influenced many with her gentle Godly spirit.

 A private graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am Thursday July 22 at Forest Lawn Cemetery West followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm at Thrift Baptist

Church.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Mrs. Ashford is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas “Duke” Earl Ashford;

sons, Darrell Ashford and wife Debbie and Craig Ashford; brother, Alvin B.

Taylor of Durham; grandchildren, Tiffany Ashford, Heather Ashford Auten and husband Chaise and Lindsay Ashford Berry and husband Uriah.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, James,

Ervin, Jonah and Hoyle Taylor.
