Mr. Bill Smith age 80 of Davidson, NC died March 3, 2010 at Churchill Assisted Living. Born August 29, 1929 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Brack Smith and Virgie Stilwell Smith. Bill was a graduate of Harrisburg High School, a MP in the US Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base and retired after 42 years as a truck driver with Carbonic Industries where he was recipient of the Million Mile Safety Award.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 6 at Davidson United Methodist Church with Dr. Jody Seymour officiating. Burial will follow at Roberta United Methodist Church in Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
Survivors are his daughter; Betty Foy and husband Sam of Salisbury, daughter-in-law; Becky Smith of Concord, sisters; Margaret Kennerly of Morganton and Mary Virginia Lewis and husband Harrison of Harrisburg, grandchildren; Rachael and Braxton Smith, Jennifer and Ricky Foy, Laura, Bennett and Blake Goodman and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Kennerly Smith, sons, David and Michael Smith and daughter, Vernie Rainey.
The family extends a special thank you to the members of Davidson United Methodist Church, the staff of Churchill Assisted Living and Hospice of Iredell County for their loving caring and kindness during Bill’s declining health.
